It is important for the groom to feel a part of the wedding
planning process, and for his ideas and tastes to be considered, as this is a
special day for both, not just for the bride. He may not have been dreaming of
this day for years, but he has opinions and preferences that can be expressed
in the cake.
Encourage your fiancée to come in with you and have ideas,
ask him questions, incorporate him into your day. We appreciate it when the men
come in with an opinion because it makes the cake design more personal to the
couple than when the groom just leaves everything up to the bride.
There are several ways to merge his interests in your cake
design:
- Incorporate his favorite team's colors or his favorite color in your cake design
- Pick a fun topper to show hobbies, pets, teams, or things you enjoy together
- Order a groom's cake to show off his interests, his hobbies, or his job
One of our brides this weekend did a really good job of
representing her groom’s interests in her cake design. He is an Oakland Raiders
fan so she had a Raiders topper and used team colors. The silver and black ribbon
tied in his favorite team’s colors, while maintaining the fun, girly look she
wanted.
Last month we had a couple that added their dog to their
topper and meaningful song lyrics to the design. We really liked the way they used their cake to express what
is important to them.
A groom’s cake can be a great surprise, or something you
plan together.
This cake was a surprise for an avid bass fisherman.
This bride was proud of her policeman and wanted a cake to
celebrate his devotion to his occupation. It was also a symbol of the bride
joining him in his commitment. This would also be a good idea for a firefighter or
military groom’s cake.
We would love to help you customize your cake. To help us do that, ask
your groom for ideas of what he would like on the cake, even for flavor
preferences. Be sure to be open to his ideas; don’t dismiss what he says. Bring
things you like, invitations, color swatches, pictures of cakes, ideas to
personalize your cake, and we’ll help you combine them into one cohesive
design.
